Maris operates in some of Africa’s more remote locations and our most important relationships are with our local communities. We work hard to develop these relationships and ensure that our communities benefit from the growth of our companies.
Maris has developed a social and environment management programme for our group companies. Since 2009 we have built primary and secondary schools, provided water, power and road infrastructure and developed medical clinics for our local areas.
These efforts are fundamental to the Maris growth model and we work not only to meet local and international operating standards such as the IFC Performance Standards, but to offer a model for responsible, sustainable development in frontier markets that are gradually emerging from a history of extreme poverty and conflict.
We are conducting a social impact audit of the group and will share results and case studies once complete.
